Watch the classic 1953 War of the Worlds film under the stunning backdrop of Mars inside Truro Cathedral
When a Martian spaceship lands in a small town, scientist Clayton Forrester (Gene Barry) and Sylvia Van Buren (Ann Robinson) are first on the scene. They must team up with the US government to save humanity from imminent annihilation.
Nominated for its film editing and sound recording, the film received a Special Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for its special effects, including colourful death rays, memorable alien spaceships, and iconic scenes of destruction.
This film is one of the quintessential science fiction films of the 50's, otherwise known as the Golden Age of Science Fiction. Based on the novel of the same name by H. G. Wells, this film keeps the spirit of the book intact.
