Rhys is really excited to be returning to Truro Cathedral after an absolute whirlwind of a year! He will be joined by his special guest, Shane Soloman, during the first part of the evening.
Rhys Wynne-Jones, otherwise known as "The Nightchurch Pianist" was sleeping rough when he went viral playing Bohemian Rhapsody in January 2024 at "Nightchurch Penzance",...a charity organisation that opens the church at night to homeless, vulnerable and lonely members of the community with free food and activities, based at St. Mary's Church, Penlee Cluster. After months known in Penwith as the "mystery" pianist, Rhys decided to put on a concert in response to his unexpected viral success... but not to help himself. He wanted to help his friends get off the streets and show thanks to the church that supported him. This decision earned him major national press attention from local newspapers, BBC, ITV, The Times and Sky News. After the success of the initial concert raising £2000 in one night, Rhys was asked by churches all over the Duchy to play concerts, dubbed "The Nightchurch Piano Tour" and to date, including his first hugely successful show at his dream venue Truro Cathedral, Rhys has fundraised over £37,500 for homeless, mental health and earth charities, released his first EP "Hi & Bye" and won ITV West Country's Pride of Britain Regional Fundraiser Award this year!
Rhys plays a variety of musical styles from classical, film scores pop, rock and comedy whilst sharing funny and heartfelt stories from his life. His shows are energetic and unexpected...brace yourselves!"
This extra special concert will be raising funds for Centrepoint, helping to end youth homelessness and local charity St Petrocs. All profits from ticket sales will go direct to charities as well as any extra donations which will be welcomed on the night.
